18U(HS) Girls SoftballUpdated Tuesday December 11, 2018 by Waxhaw Girls Softball.
Players continue to build on the fundamentals introduced in T-Ball, 8U, 10U, and 13U as they adjust to more aggressive base stealing and prepare to play competively in Middle/High School or more competitive teams.
Girls age 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 as of December 31st, 2018.
Practices & Games
Teams will practice once during the week (M-F) and once on the weekends (Sat. or Sun.) until the season starts. Once games begin, practices will depend on coach and field availability. If you have any practice time conflicts, please note those in the comment sections during the registration process.
Practices are held at Waxhaw Elementary School.
Teams play a 12 game schedule with teams playing no more than 2 games during a week.
Waxhaw Softball partners with Char-Meck Softball - as such, some games will be away from Waxhaw Elementary School.
Each player will need a glove and a defensive facemask. Cleats are not required but are highly recommended. Many players have their own batting helmet with face guard and softball bat, but it is not required. Coaches will have equipment that the team can share for practices as well as games.
Registration for 18U(HS) Girls Softball is $200.00 per player per season. Registration Fees cover the cost of league and state registration fees, insurance, equipment, umpires, field maintenance, utility costs, uniforms, and end of season participation trophies. Uniforms include player's jersey, softball pants, belt, and socks.
Assessments will take place at the Softball Field at Waxhaw Elementary School. Times for each division TBD. Players should arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time. Players should bring their gloves, batting helmet, facemask, and softball bat. If you do not have all of these items, we will have some for you to use. Each player will field a few ground balls, make some throws, and hit from a stationary tee. After assessments are complete, teams will be announced. Every player makes a team. If you are unable to make assessments, player's name will be placed in a hat and drawn at random by the coaches.
Coaches at this level are volunteers. They willingly give of their time and energy to our young players. In return for their efforts they receive our appreciation, memories made with the children and a group of smiling faces. Please consider becoming a coach.
